Palanga Orthodox Church of the Mother of God of Iveron

The Palanga Orthodox parish was established in 1995. Initially, it was located in one of the rooms of a Russian school. In 1999, the Palanga City Municipality allocated a 2,263 sq. m. plot of land for the construction of a church. The church complex was designed by Dmitry Borunov from Penza. The church was completed in 2001.

The minor consecration of the church was performed by Archimandrite Antonijus, pastor of the Church of All Saints Who Shone Forth in the Russian Land in Klaipėda. On June 16, 2002, the grand consecration of the new Church of the Mother of God of Iveron in Palanga was performed by Metropolitan Kurtickis and Juvenalijus of Kolomna, permanent members of the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, in the presence of Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Vilnius and Lithuania.

The church holds morning and evening services, confessions and communion, and celebrates church holidays. The parish has about 100 members. It has a library (about 3,000 books) and publishes a newsletter, Iveros žvakė, which provides information about services, holidays, and church life.
