Autograph of singer Stasys Povilaitis

The autograph of singer and songwriter Stasys Povilaitis, which adorns the facade of the Palanga Concert Hall, has been officially recognised as the largest signature in the country. This Lithuanian record was registered by the Factum agency.
The name of Stasys Povilaitis, who lived and performed in Palanga for a long time, is closely associated with the resort. For decades, the former Palanga Summer Stage, which after reconstruction was transformed into the modern Palanga Concert Hall, echoed with the songs of S. Povilaitis, which delighted the whole of Lithuania. The maestro’s autograph, which adorns the façade of the hall, is a symbol of the history of the Lithuanian stage and the inseparable connection of S.Povilaitis with the hall.
S. Povilaitis’ autograph adorns the façade of the Palanga Concert Hall after the initiators of the project won the competition for the commemoration of S.Povilaitis’ name announced by the Palanga Municipality. The projects submitted to the competition were evaluated by a specially appointed jury. The winning project was „Autograph”.
S. Povilaitis’ Autograph is 6.96 metres long and 1.19 metres high. It was unveiled on the facade of the Palanga Concert Hall on 1 June this year.
The composition „Autograph” was created by sculptor Romas Klimavičius and architect Gerda Antanaitytė.
