Bicycle tourism

Cyclists unanimously agree that one of the best ways to explore the Baltic coast is by bike. Palanga can rightly call itself a cyclist’s paradise – there are several bike trails stretching along the resort and the coast, with a total length of several dozen kilometers. From Palanga, you can easily reach the border with the neighboring Republic of Latvia. Turning south from Palanga, you will find yourself in the nearby port city of Klaipėda. A bike path leads to the village of Vydmantai, where you can buy freshly smoked fish, and to the HBH entertainment complex in the village of Žibininkai, a few kilometers away, which is very popular with locals and visitors alike.

In a short time, you can visit the most beautiful and interesting sights and enjoy the tranquility of the Baltic Sea, bright pine forests, and cozy seaside villages. While cycling in Palanga, you can admire local attractions such as Birutė Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Eastern Europe, the Amber Museum, and the romantic Love Alley, which is particularly popular with entertainment seekers.

Leaving the resort behind and approaching the port city, you can visit the old Karklė cemetery, amber fishing sites, and admire the highest seaside cliff in Lithuania – Olando Kepurė.

If you decide to turn from Palanga towards the Latvian border, you will first reach Šventoji. This former fishing village, which has become a cozy family resort, charms visitors with its tranquility and local attractions, such as the sculpture “Fisherman’s Daughters” standing on the seaside dunes, a suspension bridge over the Šventoji River, which has become a real attraction for children and adults alike, and the pagan Samogitian sacred site with a paleoastronomical observatory – Žemaičių alka.

IMPORTANT!

From June 1 to September 1, bicycles, electric scooters, and velomobiles are prohibited on J. Basanavičiaus Street.

Bicycles, electric scooters, and velomobiles are prohibited on the sea bridge and in Birutės Park throughout the year.
