Monument to Marijonas Daujotas, who planted trees along the Palanga seashore
Naglio Alėja, Palanga (near Naglio Hill). Marijonas Daujotas (1891–1975) was a Lithuanian forester, candidate of agricultural sciences, educator, and public figure.
His followers consider the sand dunes along the coast, which were reinforced and planted during the interwar period, to be the most notable legacy of his work in the Kretinga district. The first coastal afforestation works began in 1926 north of Palanga, in the sandy pastures between the town and Naglio Hill. Later, they continued in the direction of Šventoji. By the war, over 200 hectares of sandy coastal land had been planted and turned into beautiful pine forests. In 1986, a wooden monument was erected to Marijonas Daujotas.
