By comparison, in January last year, the three airports handled only around 53,000 passengers and just over 1,300 flights. \u00a0<\/strong>\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nAs Aurimas Stikli\u016bnas, Head of Aviation Services Division at Lithuanian Airports, points out, in terms of the growth of passenger flows, the most remarkable is the rapid recovery of Kaunas Airport\u2019s passenger flows - in January, the airport handled more than 55,000 passengers, compared to less than 10,000 passengers the same time last year.\r\n\r\n\u201cCompared to the pre-pandemic period (in 2019), Kaunas Airport is leading the recovery not only in terms of the growth of the current number of passengers, but also in terms of the number of flights operated. Last month, 659 flights were handled here, compared to less than three hundred a year ago,\u201d said A. Stikli\u016bnas.\r\n\r\nWhile commenting on January 2022, A. Stikli\u016bnas said that Vilnius Airport handled 3.5 times more passengers than in the same month last year and almost 1.5 times more flights. Meanwhile, Palanga Airport handled 10,000 passengers and 180 flights this year, compared to just 2,700 passengers and 82 flights in January last year.\r\n\r\nCompared to 2019, the amount of cargo transported at Vilnius Airport grew, with around 1,080 tonnes of cargo passing through the airport in January 2022. However, compared to January 2021 results, there has been a slight decrease in traffic - 1,165 tonnes of cargo passed through Vilnius last year. Kaunas Airport handled almost 390 tonnes of cargo this January, which is 3% more than in the same period last year.\r\n\r\n\u201cWe also exceeded 2021 in terms of the number of destinations in January this year. Last year we offered 56 destinations, this year the number has increased to almost 80,\u201d said A. Stikli\u016bnas.\r\n\r\nAbout Lithuanian airports\u00a0<\/strong>\r\n\r\nThe network of Lithuanian Airports includes three air gates in Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga.
